Our Story

Born in Bermuda, I have always been drawn to the power of scent and its ability to transport us across time and place. My inspiration is deeply rooted in my island heritage, where my family has lived for generations. I am descended from Bermuda’s early Portuguese immigrants and am proud to be married into two of the island’s oldest and most distinguished families, the Dills and the Outerbridges. The Dill family owned the iconic Ariel Sands Hotel—long a symbol of Bermudian elegance and famously associated with family member Michael Douglas—while my husband’s grandfather, from the Outerbridge side, invented the renowned Outerbridge’s Sherry Pepper Sauce, a staple of Bermudian cuisine.
My journey into perfumery began with formal studies at the Institute of Art and Olfaction in Los Angeles, where I refined my craft and learned to compose scents that evoke memory and emotion in an innovative, haute couture scent lab.
The first perfume I created was an artistic exploration of the experience of an oil spill—haute couture olfactory art that was never intended to be wearable. It featured a gasoline accord crafted with tea tree oil, paired with an oceanic essence to evoke both contrast and depth. This conceptual piece set the foundation for my approach to scent: creating memory-based fragrances that serve as emotional and sensory artworks.
LAVA & SALT is a tribute to the island that shaped me. I create collections inspired by Bermuda’s landscapes, botanicals, and the timeless elegance of island life. With each fragrance, I invite you to experience the soul of Bermuda—the wild Atlantic crashing against volcanic cliffs, the warmth of tropical air carrying whispers of citrus and spice, and the salt-laden winds that have sculpted the island for centuries. LAVA & SALT is my love letter to Bermuda, bottled for those who seek beauty, adventure, and a story in every scent.
